Next, I had to connect the stray wires to the proper place on the board. It was relatively easy to find where the positive and negative wires were supposed to go by looking at the silver side of the board...just look for (+) and (-) signs.
Here is what I did:
I must have done it correctly, because when I tested it, everything worked as it was supposed to. The AC adapter now powered the pedal. Next, I installed a battery and unplugged the adapter from the wall in order to test whether the battery would be bypassed when the plug was inserted. When I got no sound and no LED, I knew that the battery was being bypased as planned.
